We needed a rest day after yesterday's very hard ride. Kathy and Sharon went to the beach while five of us went into Port St. Joe, a town 10 miles away. On the way, hurricane damage was still evident with toppled trees and vacant buildings. There was a time change to eastern time at the county line. Port St. Joe is on Eastern time and Mexico Beach is in the Central time zone. People had lunch in various places and it was good to get away from the RV park.
For dinner, Tom and I prepared the meat and sides from James's package and we also made marinated chicken kebabs. The RV park owners gave us a charcoal grill to use with a lid and a temperature gauge so we were able to warm most of the food in it and also grill the kebabs. A microwave was also utilized from the park's tiki lounge/rec room. It appeared that the area was underutilized. The meal was a success!
Tomorrow we head to Ocholockonee River State Park. The ride is 75.6 miles and there is a whopping 482 feet of climb. Probably a bridge. The threatened rain has never materialized, though it is forecasted for later in the week. We'll see.
Hang tight the journey is almost to an end. TH
